What is the Endocannabinoid System?

Feb 7, 2022

The endocannabinoid system, from here on ECS, is a balancing (homeostasis) mechanism located within our bodies. We produce endocannabinoids naturally, but when we add phytocannabinoids from cannabis, we supercharge our immune systems. White cells and T-cells have a greater ability to combat inflammation and control infections.

Written history catalogs only about 10,000 years, but science will clarify that it takes longer to see the body’s adaptations, leading to the theory that this plant and human kind have been together for eons. Our body recognizes the cannabinoids (molecules) of cannabis when ingested, and knows exactly what to do with them. Docking sites are ready to accept these molecules, and the mechanisms that allow them to bridge the blood brain barrier are put in motion. I would add that only a few plants have that ability. Unlike pharmaceuticals, that the body sees as poison and flushes, CBD has an enzyme action that keeps the liver from flushing it.

Anecdotally, I visualize my cells becoming Superheroes whenever I ingest my CBD product. Once the body is saturated with CBD, the maintenance dose can be lowered. I find my overall vitality is directly linked to my habit of daily ingestion. Remember all of us are unique and our maintenance dose is case specific. Once you wake up the ECS, you’ll be amazed to feel the changes!
